  • Hip Replacement

“Putting up with pain and putting off hip replacement surgery is totally crazy.

Even though I had pain in my knee, Dr. Kastrup was pretty certain it was coming from my hip. An x-ray showed I had no cartilage left in that hip.

I went to St. Cloud Regional on a Monday for the hip replacement surgery and came home Wednesday afternoon. I only had a cut of about 4½ inches, and really no pain whatsoever. I never had to take a pain pill or even an aspirin. I've had two hernia operations that were worse. That guy is terrific. He explained everything so I had no fear, whatsoever. I did physical therapy and used a walker for six weeks to keep the pressure off my left side. Now, I'm getting around great.

I'd highly recommend getting hip replacement surgery done instead of putting up with the pain.”

  • Knee Replacement

“My knee was about as bad as it could get; bone on bone. Dr. Kastrup did my knee replacement on Monday, and I was walking the next day.

It was so bad I could only get up to fix something to eat and walk to the bathroom. My family doctor gave me Dr. Kastrup's card, and I got one at the nursing home where I volunteer. I saw a big poster that told all about him. I thought. "This is God telling me this is the one." I felt such peace.

It has been the most amazing thing. I can't say anything but good about it. I've had arthritis for over 20 years, and I'm 77. My daughter who's a nurse went with me. Dr. Kastrup is a doctor who listens. I just couldn't believe how well the surgery went. I feel very blessed and very thankful. I had my surgery in May, and I'm fine now."

  • Knee Replacement

“They call it practicing medicine, but Dr. Kastrup practices it better than most.

My knee was first injured in Vietnam. In 2006, I was living in Las Vegas and received second and third degree burns in a kayaking accident. I got an infection in the bone which ate away the cartilage. I almost died. I had 10 doctors working on me there, and I wouldn't give you all 10 for one Dr. John Kastrup.

When I moved to St. Cloud, he told me things other doctors never brought up. He brought me into the decisions. He suggested I get a second opinion, but I couldn't trust anyone more. He must have seen me 7-8 times the first month. For the first time, I felt a doctor really cared whether I got better or not.

I had a total knee replacement at St. Cloud Regional Medical Center. I can't believe this hospital in this small town gave me 10 times the care the big hospital in Las Vegas did. They didn't make mistakes.

In physical therapy I realized my incision was much smaller than other people's, and I know this newer method helped me recover faster. There's doctors, and then there's Dr. Kastrup.”

  • Partial Knee Replacement

“I had extreme pain before joint replacement surgery. I was limping badly. If you knew how good you could walk after the surgery, you wouldn't put up with your pain one minute more.

I went around for almost a year just hurting so bad. I was going to another doctor, who kept giving me shots and nothing worked.

My surgery at St. Cloud Regional went great. I used the walker for two days, and really didn't need it. I walked from the door of the hospital to the car without anything.

I'm just so glad that I found Dr. Kastrup. I live in Orlando—I used to live in St. Cloud. I saw him in the St. Cloud newspaper. I'm doing my recumbent bicycle and leg exercises and walking. I live on the third floor of an apartment house and I walk up three floors.”

  • Knee Replacement

“I recently had a knee replacement performed by Dr. Kastrup, and the result has been no less than phenomenal. It has been six weeks since the operation, and I am walking about as if I had never had to have the replacement. This is due not only to the skillfull hands of Dr. Kastrup but also to the regimental therepy that is required after the initial operation.

It was hard work, but it paid off thanks to Dr. Kastrup's care, concern, advise and encouragement. Thank you, Dr. Kastrup for giving me back a painless active knee.”

  • Rotator Cuff Repair

“I would like to thank Dr. Kastrup personally for his thorough and complete repair of my fully torn rotator cuff tendon. It had given me trouble for a number of years before his procedure. I am once again at 100% in that arm, and enjoy pain free exercise. What a man! Thanks to Dr. Kastrup”

  • Total Knee Replacement

“I had total knee replacement by Dr. Kastrup on 11/28/11. Super happy with results. My knee is perfect now—full range of motion, good strength, ready to return to work. My knee looks like some-one drew a thin purple line where he did his magic. I see why he was voted Top Surgeon & America's Top Orthepedists.”

  • Total Knee Replacement

“I had a total knee replacement by Dr. Kastrup in March 2012. I am now back to work full time and it is only 6 weeks since my surgery. Dr. Kastrup is such a caring, considerate Doctor. He sees his patients as people, not a number or dollar sign. I find someone like Dr. Kastrup very rare these days. I am so glad my Family Doctor referred me to him.”

  • Total Knee Replacement

“On January 11, 2010, Dr. Kastrup performed my total knee replacement. The outcome has been excellent. It was a great success and relieved me of terrible pain and discomfort.

I have continued with both the stationery bike and pool exercise and my leg and body have exceeded all expectations in strength, etc. I am 75 years old, and now I am in better physical condition then I was twenty years ago.

I can't thank Dr. Kastrup enough for an outstanding operation and outcome and returning me to a normal life. It's great to be able to walk and move about again.”

Ed Harvey

  • Knee Replacement

“The pain was excruciating day after day. My knee did not allow for much rest during the day or night. I am a caregiver and I had to do something in order to complete my mission.

It has been a month, today, since my knee replacement. Dr. Kastrup's skill and experience has made it possible for me to resume my caregiving duties in a short period of time. It is so much better for me and my charge, since I can now perform my duties without the pain of a bad knee.

I commend the professionalism and skill level of Dr. Kastrup's office, both his and that of his staff.”
